In 2017 Council held Business Information Sessions for local businesses looking to find out more about The Canopy construction phase. These sessions also provided the opportunity to meet RDG Insights who provided the opportunity for local businesses to participate in free one-on-one consultations as part of a Council-funded business support program. Council has also run local business breakfast sessions, conducted business surveys and increased activities in its Love Where You Shop campaign. Council hosted two free business breakfasts in 2019 and invited all local business people to attend. In May 2019 Council launched the Lane Cove Gift Card to support the local economy, with more than 70 retailers across Lane Cove now accepting Lane Cove Gift Cards. Council’s Shop Local Lane Cove initiative in October 2019 encouraged locals to shop local with a range of advertising, banners, promotions and retail specials.
